Website Quick Fixes Part One: The Grunt Test

“What is the grunt test?”

After talking with countless therapists I get this question a lot:

“My website is getting traffic, but I’m not getting anyone new signing up from it. I’ve tried everything, SEO, Google Ads, social media but clients still aren’t reaching out.”

There are countless things we can do to help your website turn traffic into actual real potential new clients on the phone with you but for now, let’s focus on the Grunt Test.

Why?

Because it is quick to fix and will cost you almost nothing – you can literally do this yourself, and quickly.

What is the Grunt Test?

If a caveman landed on your website, could they “grunt” exactly what you do just by looking at your homepage?

Here’s how the Grunt Test works:

When someone lands on your site, you have 5-7 seconds to answer these three questions:

1. What type of therapy do you offer?
Do you offer psychotherapy for millennial women, or, do you offer ketamine-assisted therapy for individuals? Make it clear who your clients are and what type of therapy you provide.

2. How will it help me (the prospective client)?
What do clients walk away from your therapy with? What changes in their lives after working with you? How do they get helped by your specific style of therapy? Provide website visitors with an understanding of what value you provide for your clients.

3. What do I need to do to get started?
What is the very next step that someone needs to take to get started in therapy with you. Is it as simple as “Call Me” or is it “Schedule Your Free Consultation”? Either way, it needs to be clear and direct.

So, maybe you think your homepage answers all these questions but here’s the true test: Have a stranger or a distant relative go on your website and see if they can answer the three questions. Only then will you have passed the grunt test.

You got this!
